Fit and Fold Giveaway

I used to get so frustrated trying to fold my fitted sheets. I would fold it and refold it, and it still never looked good. So then....I gave up. Really. I pretty much make one quick attempt and whatever it looks like is how it stays. So I was more than interested when I heard about this new, innovative solution called Fit and Fold which consists of 4 button-like snaps.

About Fit and Fold
Fit & Fold's four handy snaps attach to the corners of any fitted sheet, making it an instant snap to get a fitted sheet on a mattress correctly the first time, every time. In addition, Fit & Fold makes it simple to fold a fitted sheet-- so simple that one person can do it in just seconds. Available in a variety of colors to compliment linens, the snaps stay attached in the washer and dryer and are designed to not rip or tear the sheet.

My experience with Fit and Fold
The first time I put the Fit and Fold snaps on my sheets I was a bit skeptical. Okay, maybe I'm a little slow but it took me about 10 minutes to read the directions and figure out what I was doing. But the good news is that once they are on, they stay on. You wash the sheets with the buttons on. So this is a one-time installation process. Yeah! The buttons definitely made it easy to fold my sheets and make them look good.

Once the buttons were on the sheet I was ready to see if it was really going to work. And I have to say: YES!!! My sheet folded up nice and flat and the corners were square instead of round. The first attempt was pretty good but still a little uneven. The second time I did it the sheet was folded perfect. It was an awesome feeling. Now my linen closet looks so much better and I seem to have extra room because the sheets are folded so flat.

But to be honest, I thought my favorite part about this was that my sheets were going to be folded neater. But what I really liked about the Fit and Fold is that the buttons are actually labeled which one is the top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right. So it makes it easy to put the sheets on the first time. Usually I have to turn the sheets a couple of times before I get it right.

Anytime Costumes Giveaway!

Halloween is fast approaching, and it's time to pick out costumes! I am not a fan of the scary, gruesome Halloween costumes that you see everywhere. I prefer the fun, play-oriented outfits so I was excited when I found a company called Anytime Costumes. They have all types of costumes for everyone in the family. They have infants, toddlers, kids, adults & plus size costumes. They even have costumes for your family pet :) They also have hats, wigs, and all other types of accessories you might need for Halloween. If you are looking for something specific, chances are you will find it here.

I had the opportunity to review the Child dress-up set for boys. It comes with a pair of pants & shirt and accessories to make it into 3 outfits: a pirate, indian or Peter Pan! I was impressed with the creative designs of the outfits and how easily it could be changed to look like any of the three characters. What's so awesome about this is my son can be a cowboy for Halloween and then use the rest of the outfits just to play dress up in.

I was very pleased with how quickly Anytime Costumes ships. They actually ship 95% of the orders received by 2:00 pm Eastern time the same business day! They have great customer service (if you are looking for an outift and they don't have it, they will work with you to try to find it through their vendors!) and are their site is easy to navigate through to find the costume you are looking for. They have so many different outfits to choose from with reasonable prices.

If you order now, you can get free ground shipping on orders of $45 or more when you use code: SEPT9B

Win it:
One lucky reader will win a Infant, Toddler, Child or Teen costume of their choice.

Two years ago I started CVS and Walgreens shopping- or should I say "free"ing (since I hardly ever spend any money out of pocket). I was first introduced to this whole experience by my husband's cousin and the very first website I ever used to find these deals was A Full Cup. I have since expanded to using so many different sites, but A Full Cup is still one of my favorites:

Great science experiment for kids

Recently I was inspired by a fellow homeschool mom who does the coolest science experiments ever with her kids. I'm really not good at science, but she makes everything so fun even I think science is easy to learn this way.

Anyway, we did an egg experiment that was super fun today. You take a hardboiled egg and a glass or plastic jar that has an opening just smaller than the egg. Put the bottle in hot water for five minutes and then quickly put it in a bowl of ice water. Place the egg on top of the bottle and watch it slowly suck the egg in, whole. It is so cool to watch. And then to get the egg out, you simply blow hard into the bottle with your mouth around the opening. Make sure you don't point it at your kids because when you stop blowing and point it, the egg will come flying out.

We had so much fun doing this experiment today. We did have to do it twice because the first time I used too small of a bottle and it litterally sucked it in piece by piece, destroying the egg. Here's the scientific explanation behind it from the kids National Geographic website:

Hot air expands. Cold air contracts. When the air inside the bottle is heated, the molecules, or tiny air particles, inside the bottle spread out, increasing air pressure. As the air in the bottle cools, the air pressure decreases. The greater outside air pressure pushes the egg into the bottle. Blowing into the bottle raises the air pressure again. The air and the egg rush out of the bottle.

Let your Love Be Felt (Giveaway)

Whenever we have storytime my 4 year old sits so nicely and listens. My two year old sits for about two minutes and then starts doing summersaults and bounces around the room. So it is hard to work with both of them at the same time. When I found Story Time Felts I was excited because it is a felt board with pieces so you can visually create the story right in front of you while you are reading, or even independently from reading. Which means no more just sitting through the stories. The kids now become an active part of the story.

I received "The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" to review. We had such a fun time with this. Each kid got to choose a few felt animals and then we would sing the song. When we would get to the animal, whoever was holding the animal got to (literally) stick the animal in the lady's mouth. I was amazed at how much fun they had with something so simple. And I have to admit there are a few days where I have actually hidden the felts so they wouldn't find it and ask for it. You can only sing that song so many times a day before you go crazy!!

But I really love the concept behind Story Time Felts. There are no batteries. It makes no noise. It gives your children freedom to use their imagination freely and create their own stories. There is a wide variety of different products available including board stories and dress-ups.

My favorite product, as a homeschool mom, is the educational toggles. All toggles include a Toggle Book Bag, book, figures, lessons, worksheets and activities. They help with basic reading concepts, color matching, elementary math skills & shape recognition. It is such a great way to make learning fun.

How to save money on clothes & Gap outlet coupon!

Saving money on kids clothes under 5...

I have to admit that both of my children's closets are overflowing with clothes. I love shopping for clothes for them, but I never pay full price for anything. I'm always looking for a great bargain but still keeping them stylish. I have a couple of ways that I use to save money on clothes:
-At the end of every season I shop the clearance rack for approximately two sizes larger than my children currently are. I can usually score things 70-90% off and then put them away for my children. The trick is trying to guess what their size will be then. Most of them time I've been right on, but the few outfits that I have estimated wrong on, I simply sold on ebay. And because I had gotten them so cheap I have always made my money back, sometimes I have even made money!!
-I always combine coupons with current sales. For instance if I am a card holder or they are having a special sale where you get an additional $10 off $50 or something similar then I shop. Because when you combine that with the already existing sales of 50-75% off, you do much better.

Every time we go shopping, my daughter who is four picks up clothing and asks if she can buy it. If it isn't on sale, we don't even consider it. So, now she is in the habit that when she picks up a piece of clothing she asks the sales attendent if it is "on sale." We're passing on the frugal habits already!!!

One store that I have consistently found some good bargains at is Gap Outlet. They seem to be able to keep up with the current stylish and yet be affordable. They also have a pretty good clearance rack if you can manage to hit it at the right time. Right now they are having their Gap Outlet Semi-Annual Baby Sale for newborns to 5 year olds taking place September 11-24, 2009.They have offered all of my readers a special 10% off discount. Unfortunately it doesn't work with clearance items, but you still should be able to combine it with current sales to get a great deal.

Go ahead and start shopping and tell me about all of the deals you get!
Thanks to Twitter Moms for the opportunity to share this discount with you!

Snug as a Bug Review & Giveaway!

We just returned home from our trip to Colorado, and unlike here in Florida, Colorado was actually pretty cool in the evenings. I actually had to pack jackets for my kids!! Just two weeks before I had received a Snug as a Bug reflective jacket to review, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to take it for a test drive.

The Snug as a Bug reflective jacket features a full zipper, hood, hand warmer pockets and an extended back length for extra warmth. My favorite feature was the hood. It covered more of my daughter's neck than any other jacket she's ever had. I could see where they got the name "snug as a bug" because she was snuggled up really well in this jacket. The hood blocked the wind from coming in and making her cold. Also, it has reflective piping sewn into it that creates an intense white glow when hit by light which meant that I knew she would be safe at nightime as well as warm. Overall the jacket was made of high quality Canadian-made polar fleece in a beautiful color with plenty of warmth. And because it is an oversize style it should last my daughter for a few years.

In addition to the reflective jacket, Snug as a Bug also has refective helmet covers that are absolutely adorable! They are so stylish and yet very practical. They have the same reflective piping so that they can be seen. I know it is early to start talking about Christmas, but as many of you know I just love matching Christmas pajamas and Snug as a Bug has a large array of them to choose from. With the holidays coming up, this is a great idea to keep in mind!

Snug as a Bug, a Canadian based company was founded byLiz Heyland who was working a a women’s wear designer, when she found herself starved for brighter colours and itching to be her own boss. So, in 1992 she struck out on her own to launch Snug As A Bug, her own line of quality children’s clothing and accessories. After 17 years, the Snug As A Bug brand is still designed solely by Liz, and is still manufactured locally in Canada by highly skilled seamstresses enforcing a strict quality control while supporting the local community.

Win it:
