Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

And the color of the day is GREEN.

In honor of this green day, I thought I would give you a few "green" tips. Feel free to comment and add some of your own!
  • Cut down on waste and trim those Packaging Pounds-Buy household items, like detergent and cleaning supplies, in concentrated forms so that you get more product per package.

  • Swap your old incandescent bulbs for compact fluorescents (CFLs). Each bulb may cost a little more (between $2 and $7), but a compact fluorescent will pay for itself in mere months and prevent 450 pounds of power-plant emissions over the bulb's lifetime.
If every U.S. household replaced just one incandescent bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb, the amount of energy saved could light 2.5 million homes for a year. http://www.thedailygreen.com/going-green/tips/664
  • Keep it clean. Rather than use synthetic air fresheners to mask an unpleasant odor, find the source of the odor, and clean it up. Then open the windows for fresh air, or use flowers or potpourri to add a more natural scent to your room. If necessary, install air filters and purifiers and other air cleaning devices. http://www.earthshare.org/2008/09/fresh-air.html
